Our Racecourses
Thirsk
In 2005, Thirsk Racecourse proudly celebrated 150 years of racing on the course at Station Road in Thirsk.
Thirsk is – more then ever – a good choice for a day out at the races, with high quality racing, good facilities and attractive surroundings.
The course at Thirsk is used solely for flat racing between April and September. It is made up of two sections, a straight course of 6 furlongs, running parallel to Station Road, with the start close to Thirsk Railway Station and the winning post in front of the grandstand. There is also a left hand circuit, about one and a quarter miles in length which joins the straight course some three furlongs from home. There is a good view of the whole course from the grandstands, almost entirely against a background of open countryside.
