Service Issues Addressed
TurfTV today announced the findings of an internal inquiry into reception problems on the channel that occurred between Tuesday 2/12/2008 and Thursday 4/12/2008. It found that the TurfTV satellite broadcasting system was not at fault, but the channel was hit by a unique set of circumstances resulting from external interference.
The inquiry concluded that the problem was caused by a program from another broadcaster which was inadvertently retransmitted by a third party on the frequencies reserved for TurfTV. Neither party has any connection to TurfTV, and the company is confident that the incident was accidental and will not recur.
At no time during the problem was any equipment or facilityof TurfTV, or its suppliers, faulty or non-operational. TurfTV did use third parties to analyse the problem, but none was able to identify the source of the interference. Consequently, TurfTV is now accelerating investment in its own facilities to ensure it can analyse future interference.
Philip Siers, Executive Director at TurfTV, said, “This was a highly unusual problem, which our technical team worked around the clock to resolve swiftly. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to our customers and thank them for their patience during what was short but netherthless difficult, and extraordinary, circumstances.”
